If you’ve clicked your way through the Internet to get here, welcome to Flying Off The Handle. Grab a beverage, a snack, or whatever you want to be comfortable, and dive in.
So, why are we here? To begin with, I just felt like the time was right to create this space for my thoughts unprompted by trends or algorithms. To share more about what I like and enjoy, more than opinions on what I’m not into. I’m not trying to waste time screaming about what I’ve hated, word to Posdonous of De La Soul. That’s not to say there won’t be commentary on things I feel need to be addressed that are issues. I’ll write about them because I’m a Black man in the United States of America, and there is no escaping that - nor do I want to.
Those of you who may know me in real life, also know that to a degree, I’ve done a lot. And I mean, A LOT. Enough so that in having conversations with other folks, I recount my experiences, and they do a double-take. I tend to be laid-back, and sometimes I don’t talk my shit as some would expect. Am I humble? Yes. But I assert myself and my skills when I feel the need to. This is one of those times. One guitarist and singer who I enjoy a lot, Mono Neon, did an interview in the last few months. This clip summed up how I’ve been feeling and moving these last two years.
So that's where my head is at and how we're starting off this new adventure. You're going to get a look at what I enjoy, from travel to books to music to food, and everything else in between. I'm just a kid from Southeast Queens, who grew up lucky and blessed enough to experience the world as I do. Enjoy the ride.
